Interview with London concert photographer on what images you need for your live show portfolio, how to dress, and more

--

London concert photographer Drew Stewart

Normally, we interview music professionals — managers, promoters, producers — and musicians. They have helpful insights on how to build a music business, how to nurture your fanbase, organize live events, build your brand as a musician, and monetize your music.

But today we are sharing an interview with a professional who works in the industry, but is not directly involved in the music production process — a music photographer Drew Stewart.

Drew started his career in 2013 and has since been published by top media, including The Guardian, and a few of his images won NME Photography Award. His resume includes shots of Seconds of Summer, Charlie XCX, Ellie Goulding, Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz, Macklemore, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, The Cure, and many more names you’d for sure recognize.

We have shared some of the stunning shots Drew took at live events in London in our blog post (which Drew kindly allowed us to include there), so hop on over to sh4.me/cP3Ue to check them out and read the whole interview with some advice you’ll definitely want to know:

  • how to dress for your live event if a photographer will be taking your pictures
  • what concert photographers are looking for in your show
  • how to build a live show photo portfolio and what the media are looking for
