How many people will show up to your online show? We might know the answer

And it’s not zero;)

The thing about any show, the artist tends to get pretty anxious about whether or not anybody is going to show up at all.

And with ticketed online concerts things are even more anxiety-inducing as it’s really difficult to estimate the number of people who might be interested not just in your music but in paying for a show that’s not even in-person. It’s a new format and the feedback is not as readily available, although we did have quite a few months to look at how the scene is developing now and can make some educated guesses.

Our strategy in determining the number of people who are likely to show up to your online show is based on average numbers often reported as conversion rates for social media posts and emails.

Email

Email has the highest conversion rate across the board. If you have an engaged fanbase, about 20% of the people who opened your email invite to your online show are likely to get their tickets if your show fits their schedule, budget, and they are interested in the topic.

Social media

Social media are arguably the easiest tool to use but conversion is much lower. If you can get 10 to 15 ticket sales with multiple email blasts to a list that’s just 200, to get the same number of sales through social media, you’d need to have at least 1,000 followers.

This difference is simply because some posts will never be seen by all of the followers as they do not check their social media as often or don’t scroll down their feeds far enough. And if the algorithm is not putting your posts at the top, just a small amount of your followers may actually be seeing your content.

This means you have to post multiple times, at different times of day, with varying content and CTAs.

Your Show4me audience

If you have been building your audience in your Show4me Artist club, these fans might be more inclined to buy your show tickets and visit your events.

And while it’s probably never going to be 100% of your subscribers, some artists have sold out shows with just a handful of followers by using solid promotion tactics, engaging show topics, and informing their fans about the event in an efficient manner so that everyone who might want to visit at least knew it was happening.

We continue to discuss the topic in the original blog post, so read on here to find out the rest!
